A middle-grade tale about friendship, family, and maturing while on the verge of homelessness

Felix Knutsson, who is twelve and a half years old, has a penchant for trivia. He even gave the host of Who What Where When the name of his gerbil because it is his favorite game show. Astrid, Felix’s mother, is devoted yet unable to keep up the work. So they had to relocate into a van after they are kicked out of their most recent run-down flat. He is sworn to secrecy by Astrid. Even his closest pals from his new school, Dylan and Winnie, are forbidden from knowing about their living situation. She forewarns him that if he does, he will be removed from her and placed in foster care.

Felix has the chance to audition for a junior episode of Who What Where When, and he’s determined to gain a position on the show while their circumstances continue to deteriorate. Everything might become normal again if he won the cash award. However, things don’t go as he had hoped.

Quotes

“I get why Winnie believes in God. I get why Dylan believes in Bernard. I get why I wanted to believe in Mel. It can give a person comfort, feeling that something mysterious and otherworldly is looking out for you.
But now I’m learning to have faith in something new … Other people… And I am choosing to believe.”
