Hmm. Thought provoking. I like that it can be read in many ways. I felt sad that this daddy didn’t come home but it made laugh that he instead haunted the lake, which could be his choice.
He made the choice to haunt the lake because he always made terrible choices which explains why even though he was 45, he was in 1st grade.
