When the Day is Done

Sitting around the table, reminiscing

About the same old stories that we have all the time

I used to cry until my mother had no choice

It took me a while to see

What I had in front of me

It was love

And I’m still living in it

Take me back to 01

Where life just begun

If I could, I’d do it all again

I know that you love me no matter where I go

So when the day is done, I’m coming home to you

I can’t believe that baby girl used to be me

That same silly head, different state of mind

it’s safe to say that my mother and I

Share the same old nose and eyes

Though she’s had a bit more time

Hours fly and years go past

I can’t catch the time since it’s always running so fast

Can’t catch the time because it doesn’t play by the rules

So when the day is done, I’m coming home to you

When the day is done, that’s all I need to do.
